Without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, this event would not happen. We appreciate all those who donate their time and support those who Go Commando! There are several ways to get involved at the 2015 event. Look through the options here and for more information email Amanda at email@example.com or fill out the Contact Us form below.
The Health Expo is a great place for people to volunteer, if they only have a few hours to donate. Health Expo volunteers will assist with race packets, answer race day questions and more. Hours are flexible and volunteers can sit for the duration of their shift if needed.
We ask that all Health Expo volunteers work at least two hours. The Health Expo is open Friday, October 16 from 11:00am – 8:00pm and on Saturday, October 17 from 7:00am – 12:00pm.
Water Stops, or Aid Stations, are set out along the race route to provide water, Powerade, and encouragement to the runners and walkers. There are six water stops along the 2015 routes. The hours will vary depending on the position of the stop but estimate somewhere between 7:00am – 11:30am on Saturday, October 17. Organizations who wish to sign up must have at least 10 people working their water stop. For more information on the Water Stops email Amanda Cherry at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There will be two orientation meetings prior to the race in which volunteers can learn about the proper water stop procedures. The YMCA will provide basic information and best practice advice to the volunteers. Each water stop will also be managed by a YMCA volunteer.
Race Marshals provide safety along the race route, and assist runners with following the proper route. Marshals will be paired with another person and placed along the course. This position is great for JROTC organizations and those looking to volunteer with community safety. Marshals must be at least 16-years-old. Race Marshals will normally work a two hour shift Saturday morning between 7:00am – 11:30am depending on their placement.
The race route will be monitored by the Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Austin Peay State University Public Safety at strategic points as well.
Calling all non-profits, school groups, Cheer teams, Dance Squads, band groups and more: We need you! All teams are invited to compete in the inaugural Go Commando Half Marathon “Spirit Squad” competition! Teams will line the course ready to shout, wave, act a fool, and most importantly encourage participants every step of the way. Costumes and themes are optional, smiles and enthusiasm are required. Each team participating will not only be supporting the efforts of the runners and walkers, but they will also be cheering to earn some money for their cause! For more information on Spirit Squads download the Guidelines and Application. Space is limited as we are only accepting 13 groups this year!
